BATTLE KINGS

The first model in the Battle King Military series were introduced in 1974 by Lesney. In the beginning the color of the models were not very accurate but the models were popular nonetheless. The models were introduced in only a few countries originally. Later this range included realistic colors and were marketed in the entire world. Each of the Battle King models were packed with plastic military figures.

In 1977 Lesney introduced a new series, in answer to the space onslaught, called ADVENTURE 2000. This series was ahead of its time but never got very popular and could not compete with STAR WAR toys. The model in this range were both king size as well as MB1-75 in Avocado color.

In 1978 the color scheme of the tanks in the Battle King range were changed from solid colors to camouflage colors. A total of twenty six models with over sixty different variations were released among the Battle King and the Adventure 2000 series. Since 1982 these models have disappeared from the range.

Matchbox International did not pay much attention in marketing this range while TYCO sort of eliminated the King Size range altogether. I am sure there are collectors who would love to collect these models but ALAS! they are no more new models.
